"Over the past few years the Over 35 competition has given
the Staff and Executive of GHFA more headaches than any other
competition. This year is no exception and accordingly the following
rules will apply for 2005 and beyond.
In 2005 it has been necessary for the Management
Committee (the 34 clubs of GHFA) to create a monster first division
as no-one wanted to go into Division 1 to complete this competition.
Accordingly the 14 teams will play each other once
with the Saturday of the long weekend in June being a holiday
for the Over 35 Division 1 competition. At the end of the 13 rounds
the top team will be declared the Premier team with the top four
playing off in the Championship. The next six teams will take
part in a 3 match pennant competition and the final four will
also play off in a round robin 3 match pennant competition. The
winning team in both of these pennant comps, as per the rules,
will be awarded the Pennant.
If any team deliberately forfeits a match, because
they do not want to play a particular team, then all players in
that team will be deemed to be bringing the game into disrepute
and a two match suspension will be imposed on them.
For 2006 the top 8 teams in 2005 will form the
Over 35 Div 1 with the remaining six forming Division 2 with the
top two teams from the 2005 Division 3 competition. If any team
does not nominate in 2006 then teams will be moved up accordingly.
Division 1 will be an 8 team competition (as in all other Division
1 competitions in GHFA).
For 2007 and beyond the following will apply -
The bottom team in Division 1 will go down and
the top team in Division 2 will go up. If any team does not nominate
for the next year then the next team on points will be promoted.
Please note that if any club wants to nominate
a new team for Division 1, 2 or 3 then that club has two options
-
- Grade inhouse all of your teams before nomination and thus
nominate your teams accordingly without changing the gradings
for your club.
- Nominate an additional team in any one of the top three divisions
indicating that these players have come from, say P/L or another
Over 35 Div 1 team etc. The Grading Committee will then place
that team where it considers appropriate. The Grading Committee
will then have the option to push two teams down instead of
one.
Any other new teams to the Over 35 competition will placed wherever
possible or in the bottom division as the Grading Committee deems
fit. "
